Once and awhile, I make sets. How's that for a profound comment?

Copper Roses
(
AdobeSol
)
These beautiful Earrings are made with Handmade Lampwork Beads, Solid Hand Wrapped Copper Wire, Swarovski Crystals and Greek Ceramic beads heavily dipped in Fine Silver. These substantial Earings hang approximately 1.75 inches below the Handmade Sterling Silver earwire.The VERY detailed Lampwork beads are made by Heather Davis of Blissful Garden Beads. They start with a shimmery base, embelished with creamy Roses and Olive colored Leaves.
Terra Cotta Blossoms
(
MeitalPlotnik
)
Two matching sets- one set of 13 sliders, and another set of daisy tabs. Dark terra cotta bases, turquoise flowers trapped in a clear bubble.
Thanks for looking! :-)
Red Flower RingHolder Bead
(
Angelinabeadalina
)
Every so often, I get this misguided and ill-advised urge to try yet again to find my own style of floral bead. Here's the first heavy-handed rendering of a flower ringholder bead. Functional? Yep. Bright? Yep. Delicate and symmetrical as if Mother Nature had produced it herself? Not a chance! Still, I'm liking where this could go if I practice it some. Imagine petals melted smooth, with a lovely curve to the tip. Imagine those smoother petals with stripes of bold color down the center, just like real lilies. Big sigh. Now, if I can only get my particular style to look as beautiful as Sheila's raised sculpted florals or as luscious as Tasha's encased florals. . .
Monet's Gardens

I'm not a flower sorta person, but I had to try these... and I loved it. Of course the color and theme evolved into my own thing.... These are up for bid on my Ebay store now Designer's Depot 7/5/07
HOG Encased Floral Focals - Early summer 2007
(
HeartsOfGlass
)
My floral focals have been in demand in recent shows, so - much to my delight - I could justify making lots of them for our recent 3-day outdoor show at the Winnipeg Folk Festival. I left with 30 florals (and over 200 other pieces) and came back with 1 floral and about 40 pieces... They liked us! :) Luckily I got photos of everything for a photo inventory before we left, and now I can share the photos of some of my favorites!
Encased Floral Focals
(

)
I've started working on large encased floral focals this summer. I've been making small florals for some time, but I've recently found some patience and have been putting it to use. The larger beads take anywhere from an hour and a half to two hours of torch time, in contrast to about half an hour for a smaller bead.
Flowers that don't wilt.
(

)
I don't keep real flowers in my house, because I have three cats and they eat any plants that I bring home. They can't eat the beads, though sometimes they try.
Tree And Water Focal
(
BurningScentsations
)
This focal bead has an organic background of rich tans and blues which appears to be a turbulent ocean or waterfall in the background.
The foreground of this bead features a lone tree growing from the sandy bank.
I love the serenity of this particular bead, and I hope you will too.
Summer Lotus flower garland necklace
(
BentWarpedAndTwisted
)
This necklace was an absolute joy to make - the absolutely gorgeous encased lotus flower beads are by Aimee Mann of Polychrome Beads and feature opal yellow petals touched with evil purple for a truly stunning variegated effect! The green and black hand-pulled stringer leaves complete the effect on each bead, giving them a spectacular finish. To truly appreciate these beads you really must see them with backlighting, I'm going to try that tomorrow - the encasing between each layer of petals makes the contrasting colors fairly glow from the inside out!
I have used genuine Swarovski® crystal bicone beads in Erinite, Tourmaline, Daffodil and Padparadscha to complement the colors of the glass and have used Thai Karen Hill Tribe .999 fine silver Starflower bead links to unify the look. The drop pendant features an open heart so that a pendant or charm can be added. The jump rings and clasp are handcrafted.
Large Hole Bead Collections
(
AshtonJewels
)
I just started making these because I wanted to brush up on my encasing techniques. . .I really love the way they turned out, but I'm so NOT proud of the pics. Photographing dichroic glass is no fun on a sunny Saturday!!
Night Blooming Orchids
(
GlassJewels
)
This bead is made with translucent alabaster glass that makes light appear to glow from within the bead. The background is black with red flecks and a strand of bright pale blue streaming around it. It is encased in a very thin layer of clear glass and then a single white and red orchid plant is on the surface. I usually put more flowers on the backs of my floral beads, but the background of this bead looks so stunning that I wanted to leave it as it is.
Blue-Violet Orchids
(
GlassJewels
)
This is one of my favorite techniques. I use copper to create the turquise background and then embelish with Orchids.
Since I always kill the real ones, these are the only kind I can keep around!
Candy Apple Yellow Orchids
(
GlassJewels
)
The colors in these orchids remind me of candied apples and butterscotch.
The bead core is a translucent alabaster white with various frits and enamels and a strand of silver beading.
Amethyst Nights
(
GlassJewels
)
Yes! I know, I have gone Orchid nuts lately! I'll get it out of my system eventually, but until then here is another Orchid Bead.
The base is made with clear and dark amethyst. I used several different frits and enamels to create the night sky. And last but not least, I just had to put another orchid on it. This one is covered in rich pink and yellow blooms.
It is also up for auction right now on eBay.
Encased Floral Focals by HOG - Late Fall 07
(
HeartsOfGlass
)
My latest round of floral obsession. I'm trying new colour combos (though I think I'll always love the red flowers!) and new geometry. Three layers of encasing is becoming more common. Check it out!

Really nice gem quality peridot, moonstone, and tanzanite. This was my first really nice, more expensive wrap which I made last fall. Sold.
