Water Fountain Beads

Water Fountain Beads

(Angelinabeadalina)
Shhhhhh, listen. Do you hear it? Water flowing effortlessly over glass? Real water, though these first two aren't set up with a pump. These are the beginning versions. I made them last night, but the idea has been turning over in my mind since before Christmas. As I tested that wonderful Lauscha sample pack that Mari N. gave me, I envisioned rings/flanges stacked on top of each other with water flowing down the stack. Oh, but you know the glass gods can't allow me to actually get what I envision out of the glass! So, these were the beginning last night. This morning, Kate and I headed straight to the hardware for plastic tubing and copper tubing. Guess what I experienced first hand and now will remember-- copper gets purty darn HOT and stays purty darn HOT for a long time! So much for Mrs. Burnt Fingers using copper tubing like a mandrel. . . so I tried the brass hot fingers. They wouldn't grasp tight enough, and a couple of those beadalinas hit the deck! Made me so mad, I reheated them and stuc
Morello

Morello

(BentWarpedAndTwisted)
This bead was made by the very talented Elly Peters (ellyloo! here) using some mystical technique that only she knows. We joked around about this bead when she first made it when I told her it would look great made into a cherry and when I discovered she'd sent it to me the more I looked at it the more I tried to figure out how to do it. I added a Hill Tribe silver bead cap to the bottom, used a spiral of silver at the top of the bead to keep it from moving back up the head pin and used a spiral of smaller gauge silver on the top of the head pin to fuse onto the head pin itself without completely melting the head pin to achieve the effect of the little fat bit on the end of the stem. I did a brushed finish on the stem section and a polished finish on the end bit just for contrast. I love having this thing dancing around on my desk! :)
Bobeches

Bobeches

I create the bobeches the same way I create my jewelry. I use what ever I have at the time or what I need to complete the design.I use new and old pieces and findings, just as I do in all my work.I will be working on a bridal series for the spring.
Loom work

Loom work

Though I am not Native American I do love the colors and styles of the plains Indians. I learned to loom about 7-8 years ago and since then have advanced quickly. These are pieces that have been created on the loom, a structure that provided a framework for the threads. This is simular to fabric weaving, but not quite the same.

Belly Dancer's Bra Top and Belt Ensemble

Belly Dancer's Bra Top and Belt Ensemble

(TheJadeDog)
This work juried into Bead Dreams 2007.

For the top: the beads include glass, Japanese and Czech seed beads, eye shell cabochons collected in Europe during WWII, freshwater pearls, sterling silver, base metals, a purchased bra size 34b, another purchased bra to line the cups, ribbon, and two scarves serving as the ties.

For the belt: the same beads as the top, plus leather backing, ribbon and d-ring closure and scarves to camouflage the buckle.

Techni... used are: bead embroidery and peyote in the round.

Inspira... Vintage crazy quilts. Arabic disco. White Zombie. Christina Aguilera. As I worked on these pieces, I envisioned a fusion tribal belly dancer, a dancer who mixes styles into a completely unique performance.

And I suffer from acute insomnia.
