~A Marriage of Glass & Silver~

~A Marriage of Glass & Silver~

(Fyrebeadz)
I learned how to metalsmith last March from a 75 year old gentleman. I never even got to finish out the first project because the power went out. I managed to finish it on my own. Here is a good example of what I love to do with sterling and glass!

Two-tone Goddess focal strung in harmony with sterling silver, bali silver and hand bead-crocheted tube are combined on this two strand bracelet. Goddess toggel puts the final touch on this one-of-a-kind bracelet.

"The Theory of Everything"
(TOE... a hypothetical theory that fully explains and links together all known physical phenomena. This term stuck in in the circles within the popularizations of quantum physics to describe a theory that would unify or explain through a single model the theories of all fundamental interactions of nature.

Thus you have Symmetry vs. Asymmetry!

I Will Bead The World!

I Will Bead The World!

(Justvonna)
Bead My World - is dedicated to help raise awareness for organizations in the United States that are working hard to help others. Determined to support and share the concerns of these non-profit foundations by providing additional funding. My hope is that by joining with others who are working toward the same goal, we can use our artistic talents to make the world a better place. This bracelet went up on silent auction to help raise "Adoption Awareness" through the Dave Thomas Foundation in 2005. Fetched a pretty penny too.

"Art to me is a humanitarian act and I believe that there is a responsibility that art should somehow be able to effect mankind, to make the word a better place. "Jeff Koons"

Having a numerous amount of boro beads in my bead box lonely, wondering - "When is she going to pick me?"

See what happens when you get "BORED".....

"Gelly" Bracelets

(Justvonna)
Angéle makes beads too! Everyone was bidding on her awesome pigs, no one was bidding on her beads. This is what happened to your beads Angéle - I used this set for a tutorial, and I couldn't follow the directions, so I made up my own. The second set was used in a contest.
I only used one of your beads in the second bracelet, when will I find the time to use the others?
Thanks, Gelly...

Here are a few bracelets that I made today. Had some difficulty with sizing due to the fact that some of the beads are rather chunky. The EZ bracelet sizer is really a life saver for things like this. Anyway, I had a good time making them, I hope you enjoy looking at them.

Everything and the opposite of everything, this bracelet was conceived as an exercise in using as many contrasts possible in a single piece of jewelry. The lacelike structure of the bracelet band accentuates the roughness of the stone, the fire of the orange brings out the rich chromatic depth of the green, the elegance of structure contrasts sharply with the almost primordial nature of the focal piece.

Materials employed in the making of this innovative bracelet are Australian Boulder Opal, Swarovski crystals, and vintage (early '70's) Venetian glass seed beads...absolutely exquisite. It closes with two copper toggle clasps.

The Boulder Opal measures 3cm (1.18") in length and 0.7cm (0.26") in width (at its widest point). I purchased the stone rough, and had it custom polished and drilled specifically for this design by Master Goldsmith and Gemcutter Maurizio Borghi.

I would be willing to trade this piece for the right set of lampwork beads :)

On the Rocks

On the Rocks

(OriginalSinDesigns)
Monochrome has never been so incredibly spectacular. On the Rocks has it all - class, style, funk and shine. Dare to wear it with a tan, heads will turn! This bracelet has a distinct and marked glow to it, thanks to a perfect mix of matte opalescent white seed beads and transparent unlined aurora borealis finish seed beads in the band of the bracelet. The focal stone is completely transparent, and the bezel has been constructed in such a way as to leave the back of the cabochon uncovered, maximizing light to the stone. Tiny dark brown seed beads are integrated in the top of the bezel, otherwise made entirely of silver lined transparent beads, to emphasize the points where bezel meets rutiles

The focal stone is an exceptional Rutilated Quartz, completely transparent and with some very interesting inclusions. The piece was photographed on a neutral background, and due to the transparency of all the stones used in its making, this shows up slightly in the photographs. The stones are all either completely transparent or predominantly transparent in the case of the focal stone.

The materials used in the creation of On the Rocks are Rutilated Quartz, Rock Crystal, Tourmalated Quartz, Czech, Japanese, and German seed beads, German bugle beads, sterling silver, antique Czech foiled crystal beads

This freeform peyote cuff, measuring 7", features a priday moss agate cabochon, opal chips, new Czech glass, copper disks, vintage Japanese glass pearls and new seed beads, an old and a new button, brass cubes and disks. Too many hours to count in labor. Angled edge and button closure. Peyote and brick stitch, fringe work.

(Model in picture has a tight wrist measurement of 6". Could fit up to a 6 3/4" very comfortably. No resizing.)

This bangle is made with 14 gauge sterling wire from H. Schmidt & Son, a stunning Sakura focal bead by Susan H. Farley and swirl beads by 3 Muses Glass, which have been accented with sterling Bali beads, diamond cut sandblasted sterling beads and complementary colored Miracle Beads from Side Street Beads in Watkinsville, GA (thanks Susan & Co.!). I made this piece to go with a suite I am making for myself.

This focal bead from 3 Muses Glass really brought back memories of a trip to Destin, FL once upon a time, having dinner at the Sunset Bay Cafe at the Sandestin resort, watching the sun set, just kickin' it and feeling more relaxed and pampered than I've ever felt in my life. Call this one a mental vacation!
Cherry Blossom Festival

Cherry Blossom Festival

(BentWarpedAndTwisted)
This is a piece from my own collection, the focal bead is by Susan H. Farley and the spacer beads are by Bits O' Glass. This piece is part of a suite I'm making for myself with a cherry blossom theme that started with the Sakura No Ki geisha bead purchased from Tracy Jarrell Akhtar (reworked on 18K yellow gold wire).

This bracelet is on 18K yellow gold wire and is one of my favorite pieces both personally and professionally - the spacer beads were part of a lot of 500 purchased from Bits O' Glass and just happened to have the perfect colors and blends to go with the focal bead, I couldn't have hunted them down if I'd tried! My work has as much to do with serendipity as anything and the beads have to tell me their stories while I'm using them to tell mine. This piece definitely speaks volumes!
