HOG Encased Floral Focals - Early summer 2007

(HeartsOfGlass)
My floral focals have been in demand in recent shows, so - much to my delight - I could justify making lots of them for our recent 3-day outdoor show at the Winnipeg Folk Festival. I left with 30 florals (and over 200 other pieces) and came back with 1 floral and about 40 pieces... They liked us! :) Luckily I got photos of everything for a photo inventory before we left, and now I can share the photos of some of my favorites!

I've started working on large encased floral focals this summer. I've been making small florals for some time, but I've recently found some patience and have been putting it to use. The larger beads take anywhere from an hour and a half to two hours of torch time, in contrast to about half an hour for a smaller bead.
Frogs on 'Pleated' Bases

Frogs on 'Pleated' Bases

(MaryCLockwood)
Been working on the 'pleated' effect using encased twisties as bases for my frogs. These are the first two and I can't wait to see all the fun colors that come next. Thanks for looking.

I am just having tons of fun getting lots of great glass reactions! I love finding a surprise in the kiln and lately Boro has been giving me lots of fun surprises.
Flames of Passion

If you're a flame worker, you know the passion of the flame. It's almost hypnotic. I wanted to capture flames in a bead and I think this set comes close.

My latest round of floral obsession. I'm trying new colour combos (though I think I'll always love the red flowers!) and new geometry. Three layers of encasing is becoming more common. Check it out!
Willow

Willow

(MysticGardenBeads)
Weeping willows have always sort of "mesmerized" me...there's just something so calming in the gentle sway of their branches and leaves.
Here is my attempt to capture the movement of this beautiful tree. I hope you enjoy it! :-)

This is the focal to the mini set...and it was just as difficult to get a decent picture...so I went ahead and took a bunch of them!;-)

Enjoy...

Treasures of the Sea

Treasures of the Sea

(HeartFire)
I really had a great deal of fun making this set. I wanted to make a set that would depict the ocean with all of it's treasures--so if you look really closely you will find little bits of goldstone hidden somewhere on each bead. This is a very large set so it was difficult to photograph all at once, at least it was for me. I used reactive glass with Lauscha Iceblau to to get the effect that I wanted. I just love Lauscha glass.

Thank you for looking!

RELIC-PMC & Lampwork Bangle

RELIC-PMC & Lampwork Bangle

(Fyrebeadz)
A marriage made in heaven, PMC and my own lampwork discs. This piece features a large PMC faux box and PMC clasp. I patineaed it for an old time appeal. My beads are the prefect compliment, at least I think so! Sterling wire woven in an age old technigue also works wonderfully. Lots of hours went into this piece. Inspired by the work of Jill Rockwell. June 2008

(MysticGardenBeads)
usually I only get really homesick around Christmas time, but this year everything seems to be a little out of "whack". ;-)
I hope this bead gives you as much pleasure as it gave to me while sitting at the torch...rememberi... :-)

Sexy, classic tigers in a new diamond shape. I love these, but then I can be a little on the "wild" side! I just gotta make myself some of these someday...
Garden Series

Garden Series

(TheGlassTurtle)
All of my Garden series are encased and pressed. The two-toned color combo is one I never get tired of making and the designs floating on top are kept simple so as not to detract from the overall watercolor-like effect of the beads.
