Sculptures in Soft Glass
(
Vuju
)
These are a few of my figures that I made in soft glass some time ago. Again they are al trie outs, I really need to practice the figure so that explains why they look so weird sometimes ;)
Silent Tide
(
Ironmoutain01
)
This focal has a base of blue veiled Gaffer glass carefully shaped into a large crunch, rolled in silver leaf and burned off, then rolled in two of my favorite frits and melted in, and the bead once again gently re-shaped. A twist was added for accent while a clear raised dot was added to the center of the twist for interest, and the bead fire polished. This focal is 64.3mm long x 25.5mm wide.

Rosa Bonito
(

This focal has a base of veiled Gaffer glass carefully shaped into an extra large crunch, rolled in two of my favorite frits and melted in, and the bead once again gently re-shaped. Sterling silver mesh and a twist were added for accent while a clear raised dot was added to the front for interest, and the bead fire polished. This focal is 52mm long x 26mm wide and wound on a 1/8 mandrel.
Cygnus
(
Ironmoutain01
)
I got a batch of the new LE Bullseye glasses, and couldn't wait to try them! This one is the Deep Blue Algae - an absolutely gorgeous colour!! The rod itself is almost like a blue-green filigrana with a soft velvet feel to it. TONS of sparkle!
Emilio's Worries
(
Ironmoutain01
)
When a dear friend of mine, Emilio, retired from his job of being an Anesthesia Tech for about as long as I've been alive, I wanted to give him something to keep in his pocket to remind him of all of us while he and his family were on their much deserved travels - and we were worrying about the guy who took his place!!!
Draco's Eye
(
Ironmoutain01
)
I was looking at my puppy's eyes and started to wonder whether or not I could get the general texture and colouring in glass - his eyes are the most unusual shade of light blue with a crushed velvet texture. Almost a white-blue in some lights. This is my first attempt at the colouring, and I FAILED!!! Oh well - I think a darker blue over a lighter white, and change the frit, but it made for a fun bead anyway!!!
Celestial
(
Ironmoutain01
)
I felt like playing with some of the new Bullseye blue algae, some sterling mesh, a little dichro stringer, and of course - frit. I had a vague idea of what I wanted, but didn't have any idea of how it wanted to be put together. Well - it put itself together...
Tribal
(
Ironmoutain01
)
This is not my usual organic. This is a striated blend of Opal Yellow and Kronos 2, with silver foil and frit on top - then etched to within an inch of it's poor little life.
Dwiggle
(
Ironmoutain01
)
This is closer to Draco's eye colour - I think I'll go with this base combination, and change the frit again. The press shape is a bear though. This is the first time I've used it - I like it though...
The Tortise & The Hare
(
Gelly
)
New critters on etsy!
http://g... two beads don't actually go together, but I just happen to have them listed at the same time, lol!
Jan's Refreshment
(
Ironmoutain01
)
This set is strictly Moretti, but got a name change when I showed it to a dear friend of mine who at the moment drinks LOTS of water. She mentioned how refreshing the beads looked to her... but I was a little concerned that she'd try to drink them....
The Learning Curve
(
Angelinabeadalina
)
I've been using a Minor Burner torch since I started lampworking in Feb. 2006. I always wondered about the learning curve when you switch setups, but switching from an oxygen concentrator to an oxygen tank last month was no problem-- in fact, that switch made me very happy,very quickly. Then, on a maybe-misguided whim, I spent money I shouldn't have on a used Bethlehem Betta torch a few weeks ago. Well,my parents came for a quick visit this weekend, and my dad adjusted the mount on my worktable and hooked up the Betta for me. (I swear, he's gonna try melting glass before it's all over with-- he had that baby lit and was playing with the flame.) Anyway, last night, I got to try the Betta, and I like it "betta" AND there isn't much of a learning curve when you switch torches! These babies are not my best for two reasons, and those reasons don't have much to do with the new torch itself: 1. I went to the torch without any particular inspiration,so they don't have much pizazz, and 2. Pop changed the angle of the torch and I was too dense to change the angle of my chair, so I felt like I was working left-handed instead of right-handed.
Emotion Beads
(
Ironmoutain01
)
I always sit and make a structured bead, but when I had a really horrible day at work I wound up taking out all of my frustration on the glass - resulting in a totally amorphic bead. Randomness and chaos, both good and bad. These are my emotions in glass.... (GULP)
Anger
(
Ironmoutain01
)
My first emotion bead -- totally disregarding the whole COE compatibility thing (chuckle). Cracks went everywhere, but it just sort of added to my mood....
