A new twist to the water beads - I missed making the organics, so I wondered what would happen if I simply combined the two. What do you think?? Does it work or should I scrap it??

"Far and Away" Challenge winners (polymer clay)

(ChrisDembinski)
In 2005, The Bead Hive Group on Ebay challenged its members with a "Far and Away" project. For 4 months we explored countries, cultures and landscapes for creative inspiration.
Florals, Faux Cloisonne

Florals, Faux Cloisonne

(Eugena)
What is "faux cloisonne"? Well, "cloisonne" is an old metal-working technique, when a design is formed using metal partitions (or cloisons) filled with different colors that are created with enamels. "Faux cloisonne" is a technique that I developed for polymer clay. It is still a pretty time-consuming process, since every line is created by cutting and bending a piece of wire. However, it is much easier at least because you do not have to solder metal and melt glass...

Every floral design I create is one-of-a-kind. Some of them already found their homes, and some are still available on my website.

In this gallery, you will find my 3-D floral designs. For some reason, they are limited to orchids with only a few exceptions. However, orchids have so many different shapes and colors, that they can keep me busy for a really long time.
Raku-ish

Raku-ish

(Dystini)
These beads were created after studying tons of pics of raku stringer lampwork beads.

This is sort of canework. I layered the blends offseting them slightly. When I had a thick enough stack I took slices of it and placed them on black base beads. For some, I took a section of the stack and rolled it up like a jellyroll and took my slices from that.

Faces, Faux Cloisonne

Faces, Faux Cloisonne

(Eugena)
I am trying my hand in capturing facial expressions using faux cloisonne technique. Surprisingly, I found this task way more difficult than making florals - I am working on a very small scale, and shifting any piece of wire I am working with even by a millimeter changes the expression right away...
river rocks

river rocks

(ChrisDembinski)
A leisurely walk along the river bank. The sun glinting off the water and something just below the surface. A river rock, worn smooth by the flowing water. I just love the organic look, feel and shape of these. They have been sanded and lightly buffed for a more natural look.
Winged Creatures, Faux Cloisonne

Winged Creatures, Faux Cloisonne

(Eugena)
How do you call butterflies and dragonflies together? Not "Insects" - I do not want anybody think that I am making bugs, bees, or beetles. They are pretty in their own way, but I am not interested in making them right now, that's all. I decided to call this page "Winged Creatures", and if I ever make a bird, I will post it here. Sounds like a plan to me.
Florals

Florals

(ChrisDembinski)
When I started to catagorize my beads, I realized that I do a LOT of florals.
