Meditation & Yoga Poses

(Angelinabeadalina)
Need to de-stress? Channel some serenity from these figures. Whether it's a peaceful yoga pose early in the morning or a Tao worshipper echoing a Buddha pose, you'll find that these figures are sending you positive energy as you lock gazes.

Masks Inspired by Disney's Animal Kingdom Safari

(Angelinabeadalina)
Imagine this: Forty year old cynic waiting in line for the safari ride. Instead of complaining about the wait, she's hoping the line slows down. She wants more time to look at all the masks and carvings and extra little embellishments that Walt's folks have "thrown together" in a way that seems completely appropriate, like what you imagine a real safari outpost might look like. The kids, hubby, and friends were anxious to get on the safari jeep and see the animals. . . and I was secretly wishing for a torch and glass so I could make a mask! The Safari was spectacular, though! Here's what I've gotten to do so far.

Vedas first faces ever

(BickleyStudios)
Kudos to anyone who does faces. They are HARD. These are pretty rough and still need some refinement. I hope to do more at some point in the future. The inspiration for these 2 are the wonderful ivory carvings of faces by the Inuit.

Tiny Dancer

(ChrisDembinski)
After drooling over Sheila Morley's Boogie Down beads, I knew I had to make a dancer bead. My daughter thought I should name the bead after her. (I hauled her to dance class many years and attended many dance recitals).

New boro bicone...

(Mr.Smiley)
This is a new technique I'm working on. It may look familiar, but I've never seen a bead completed this way. I'm not letting the cat out of the bag just yet... it's got tons more sparkle than the picture capture. The depth is really nice as well. i can't wait to make more and have folks see them in person!

Cosmos

(Ironmoutain01)
Another "Get Back on the Torch" bead, Cosmos is a base of Moretti glass with sterling leaf and a blend of reactive frits, creating quite a surprise look for me - there wasn't a blue to be found - only brown, gold and white frits!!!
Mica * Featured Page *

Mica

(Ironmoutain01)
Mica is covered with a light gold metallic sheen, yet she wasn't fumed. Haven't tried that...yet...

As well as a gold sheen, there's also a little silver-grey, and some sterling mesh which had a nice pitting effect with the base glass.

Naranja Monarca

(Ironmoutain01)
I found this rod of an intriguingly intense transparent orange Caliente glass - almost a neon colour - and wanted to try it... A little silver leaf, a little frit, and we almost have a morning sun!!!

Art for the Soul

(ThatBeadGirl)
i was recently asked to create a meditation pendulum and was intrigued by the idea. i created this first pendulum and am so excited by the possibilities and the meaning that can be created for each person, that i've decided to offer them as a regular catalog item on my website.

First Attempt * Featured Page *

First Attempt

(Ironmoutain01)
Here's what's left of the first attempt - most of the copper fell off - it was about three inches long so I sprayed Polyurethane on the rest....

Next time I'll use 1amp instead of 10!!

DEFINITELY a learning experience!!! LOL

Second Attempt

(Ironmoutain01)
Ok! I know - the amperage is supposed to be set somewhere between 0.1 and 1.0 amp, but I had such an, um, interesting outcome on my first attempt at (ahem) 10 amps that I just wanted to see what 5 amps would look like before my copper plates ate through....

So I took anothe broken bead, painted some very un-artistic looking squiggly lines on it (Have to work on that part) and sank it....

Very different texture this time, although some of the tree-like growth was starting to appear in places.
