The hippie chick!
Being a hippie...It has a fun "style". I really want to try out tye dyes with glass. We'll see. I made some dot beads that looked really cool. I thought, that looks kinda like a tye dye! So, why not? Then it became more about NOT burnnig the skin or the shirt. Building up or reducing...And, using my murrini. I see what Loren Stump was saying..."Before you know it murrinies were everywhere!" (Don't worry Loren. She is crack free and introduced two times! And! No wafting! ;)) Peace!

Georgia's Prickly Situation
I think the ghost of Georgia O'Keeffe must be fraternizing with my creative muse because I keep running into Georgia's work and life this winter. This time, I riffed on a 1937 Ansel Adams picture of Georgia flirting with a tour guide in Arizona. I keep staring at that picture, just wondering what else is going to come out of the glass from it. There wasn't a cactus in the picture, but it was set in the wild west(and the magazine was Cowboys&Indians). The story behind the picture was that Adams, O'Keeffe, and several other friends set out on a long camping trip through the Southwest. Ansel snapped the pic of Georgia and the cowboy, her lookly slyly sideways, him looking down at his feet. One moment caught in time, and from looking at it, people assumed that Georgia and Orville were having an affair.

Just a Little Something to Put on a Silver Chain
I don't often make pendants, but with a stash of leftover beads in oneseys and twosies from sets I've used for necklaces and bracelets, it seemed likt time to put them to good use, instead of hiding away in the bottom of my bead box. What alot of fun I've had playing with my beautiful left-overs!

Satellite Beads
Satellite beads are a good way to start a torch session. The glass does the work and the designing. They are very relaxing and really get my creative juices flowing. Can you see the planets in the front of the tails? Like satellites orbiting around the bead...

Lentil Soup anyone?
Lentils are a natural shape to love, with the flat sides, they are easy to hold and fondle. They feel nice against your neck and wrist and ankle, and they have a larger canvas to decorate than a round bead made out of the same amount of glass.

The Weight
This is dedicated to the woman who couldn't possibly wear one of my Buddha beads because "Oh,no,Buddha's not God". God, or whoever you choose to call the higher powers in the universe, takes many forms, and I find many of them moving and inspiring. Jesus is no less moving or inspiring than Buddha or any other prophet. I'm no expert on any religion, but I've read bits and pieces about many different ones since last fall when I started making big focal beads inspired by religious art. Just with this basic background and some deep thought, I can "see" the recurring symbols and ideas that cross time and cultures to become embedded in human thought.

I love working w/ this combo again and again...thanks Smiley. Only 2 colors and clear were use to create these zigzag beads. This is one of the reasons I love working w/ Boro so much...the colors ROCK! ;)

Organic Folk Art Cats
I really enjoy creating these earthy cats that look like some kind of exotic stone. They are great for experimenting with different colors and textures!
