I'm Heather Stewart, part-time glass talisman creator. I've been lampworking since 2003. I work with my partner Andrea and together we form Hearts of Glass (HOG) Lampwork Beads, Pendants and Talismans. We sell on Ebay as Hearts_Of_Glass - just do a title search for "HOG"! We also have an Etsy store at http://heartsofglass.etsy.com/. I'll be adding to the galleries as my photo collection expands, so please visit us often. Thanks for looking! :)

My four latest floral focal beads with three-dimensional flowers encased between two layers of clear with intricate bases.

A small selection of my early 2008 florals - a lot escaped without good photos! I was having fun this year, playing with base recipes and often adding extra layers of clear.

I've been experimenting with bracelet designs. All my components are sterling silver. And of course all the lampwork is created by Andrea and myself in our Winnipeg studio!

My latest! I have been getting a little experimental in my reactive backgrounds and colour combinations.

My new favorite fishies!

My latest round of floral obsession. I'm trying new colour combos (though I think I'll always love the red flowers!) and new geometry. Three layers of encasing is becoming more common. Check it out!

My neolithic-style goddesses, loosely based on the Goddess of Willendorf. Apparently breasts are not "family safe", so be warned!!!

Fishies are very fun. If the glass is cooperating with me, I make hollows. Sometimes they turn out beautifully. Other days they crack no matter how warm I keep them. On those days, I switch to solid fishies. I got some inspiration from Olivia Cinta's tutorials, but hopefully my work is elaborate enough that each piece is unique. :) I also have a signature plunged spiral eye which I really enjoy.

My floral focals have been in demand in recent shows, so - much to my delight - I could justify making lots of them for our recent 3-day outdoor show at the Winnipeg Folk Festival. I left with 30 florals (and over 200 other pieces) and came back with 1 floral and about 40 pieces... They liked us! :) Luckily I got photos of everything for a photo inventory before we left, and now I can share the photos of some of my favorites!

I had a lot of fun making a floral at the start of almost every glass session for a few weeks in late February and early March! These are my favorites of the batch.

Beads of many shapes - butterflies, stars, etc. My goddesses and fishies are on their own pages.

These are my early '07 beads, in chronological order. I have been experimenting with new steps and techniques, and have started doing more double-flower designs. This gallery got full faster than I'd thought, so I've decided to make a new floral gallery every few weeks. Stay tuned!!! :)

I enjoy sculpting in glass and have been developing several different designs. Off mandrel scuptural work has becoming increasingly appealing for me as my heat control improves. It's extremely challenging in soft glass, but the fluidity is addictive!

I started keeping decent photographic records of my favorite beads in early 2006, which corresponded with a big leap in my floral-making skill. In my earlier reds, you can see how I struggled against the tendancy for the petals to go translucent, and how I finally figured out how to layer for better opacity and brightness. I also developed a better sense of the ideal proportions of base opaque petal dot and transparent top dot for better crispness.

This gallery will be fairly random for now. I'll re-categorize when I have more photos. Enjoy!
