I've long been a fan of H.R. Giger and other artists in the biomechanical style. This series of focals is my attempt to capture the same feeling in glass.

The combination of reactive glasses and fine silver leaf always surprises me with its colors and patterns. These beads were all created from the same mixture of glasses and bring to mind images of deep space.

I've recently moved further away from sets and more to focal beads, where I can spend a great deal of time working on an individual piece of work. This has resulted in a great deal more of the experimental work that I find to be most enjoyable.

One of my first very successful designs, the Tidal Pools series continues to be a source of inspiration and a useful canvas for experimentation.

Vortex beads are a lot of fun to create - the twist at the end of the process always brings out more complex patterns and color combinations than I'd originally planned.

I'm a huge fan of reactive and color-changing glass, with raku being one of my favorites. Every base color reacts slightly differently to the raku and even subtle changes in heat or flame chemistry can have a profound impact on the appearance of the final work.

I've started working up a few sculptural beings of one sort or another, and this is where they will reside as they are finished.

I really enjoy working with hollow glass, and the podifact series is my latest expression of this form of bead. Combining transparent glasses with empty spaces and reactive surface elements really brought this series together for me.
The resulting beads have both organic and mechanical elements, hence the name - a hybrid between seed pods and artifacts.

These beads were some of my first experiments with very using glass to push silver around into new and interesting patterns. While I rarely make beads in this style anymore, the concepts I discovered during this period continue to influence mywork.

I'm an experimental lampworker based near Dallas, Texas. I constantly strive to improve my work and to stretch my creativity, following the flow of molten glass and passing inspiration.
Most of my work is sold via eBay and you can see all of my current auctions at: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZcgate22dy
