The harbor seal bead is big -- about 3.5 inches in length -- and I made it on a curved mandrel. I like how the curved mandrel naturally conforms to the shape of the seal!

I made this with Terra, and it turned out looking like fossilized ivory -- everyone really liked the effect!

This figure was made from effetre light ivory, and I matted everything except the face, hands, and seal. It ended up looking like it was made from bone!

This little hive is 1" tall and 1" wide at the base. I need to tweak a couple things, but this was the trial run of bee hives, and they made me happy. Happy summer to all of you!

The chicken is the unofficial mascot of the Alaska Bead Society! Here are a couple girls I made in honor of that!

I call these "tapestry flowers" because they remind me of a William Morris tapestry, sort of. If you'll excuse me for comparing my beads to a William Morris tapestry!

It was -13 degress this morning -- good weather to stay inside and make beads! I feel just like these Arctic Fox beads -- curl up in a ball and wait until spring!

I've made several types of beads from Effetre Pastel Ivory because it looks exactly like walrus ivory. Being from Alaska, this is my way of paying homage to the Alaska Native artists who make such wonderful sculptures from walrus ivory.

One of my goals this summer is to find a fish float on the beach in Homer (actually, it's my goal every year and so far I haven't found one). Maybe this year will be my lucky summer!

Underneath these flowers is vine latticino encased in clear. This bead really feels like summer to me!

Ravens and full moons are a winter staple here in Alaska. This is a 2" lentil bead, and the detail is hard to reveal in a photo since it is a curved shape!
