(Sculptural Glass Beads)

The Shakti Within Dark and mysterious, lovely and powerful, graceful and intense...she is the shakti dancing within us all. She is a nameless Hindu goddess, she is every Hindu goddess. She is Kali, she is Parvati, and she is Lalita...

She is a four bead sculpture, and she was also pictured in the Dec./Jan. Glass Line article.

In the article, I named her Dancing Hindu Goddess because I just wasn't sure who she was...I only wanted to capture a graceful dancing goddess when I made her.

You know me by now, and I'll bet you want to know why I finally gave her a name. The name comes from not one goddess but many, and it comes from reading a book called Shakti Mantras.

Shakti Mantras: Tapping into the Great Goddess Energy Within, by Thomas Ashley-Farrand, is a dog-eared book in my collection.

Until that book, I didn't really think about the power of chanting a mantra. Since I've never really given yoga a decent try, I guess I thought mantras were just for meditating while you do a yoga pose.

This book made me realize chanting a mantra can be a soothing routine that can be combined with many different activities.

In fact, after reading the book, I picked a mantra to memorize and began chanting it while torching. I don't always do it, but sometimes I do, and it is both soothing and energizing.

I also realized that a mantra certainly doesn't have to be a religious one in order to influence the work I am doing while chanting it.

Mantras are not merely words, they are entities that carry you to a place within...

Thanks for stopping by to visit with AngelinaBeadalina! I'm really just plain ol' Angie or Ang, but the catchy name does suit me in the sense that I'm a motormouth who loves to play with words almost as much as I love to play with glass! You can find me here at BeadArtists.org, in my Etsy shop, or in my daily blog. You can get links to those places at www.angelinabeadalina.com (click on it above). Please pardon the use of my "official" website as a traffic control signal at the moment-- at least, that's what it makes me think of when I look at it. . . lots of directions to other places where there are updates on a daily basis. Tech-stuff would not be one of those things that I love or that comes naturally to me ;) Well, enough rambling for now, come on in, look around. . . have fun exploring my glass experiments and ideas. Peace, Ang
