Breast Cancer Awareness

Breast Cancer Awareness

This year it is estimated that nearly 200,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000 will die. Breast cancer is not exclusively a disease of women, however. Approximately 1,700 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 450 will die each year. The evaluation of men with breast masses is similar to that in women, including mammography.

10% of the proceeds from this sale will go to the Susan B Kommen Foundation.

70% of the proceeds from this sale will go to our local Women's Breast Imaging Center to help pay for mamograms for women with no funding.

This freeform focal is made from out of production Bullseye glass, silver dichroic glass, and an embedded pink CZ.

The focal’s length is 41mm, 22mm at its widest point, and 20mm thick. It was wound on a 3/32” mandrel and the hole is clean.

Chrysalis

Chrysalis

This is another first attempt from me - completely free form like the Ivory Moss Splat Beads (what a name!), but I've never played with Silver Plum before, and I SUCK at shards!!!

Dragon's Tooth

Dragon's Tooth

A single, miniature freeform beads which grew to only 23mm tall. Maybe I just didn’t feed or water them enough…

Earth, Air and Fire are all here....

Another random combination and formation of 96coe glass, I wanted to see what Light Aurora looked like. It reminds me of striated rock with gold ore running through it – quite pretty!

This focal was wound on a 1/8” mandrel, and is 37mm long, 22mm wide, and 16mm thick.

Picasso Minis

Picasso Minis

These are a pair of Picasso beads - about 1 inch tall each. I'm so used to making the freeform beads focal sized that making them smaller is really difficult for me!!

Pupa

This is another different bead for me - no frit! I think that I'm having a small seizure, but at least I got the silver in there. This focal has a graceful curve formed right into the bead.

This bead was wound on a 1/8” mandrel and averages 16mm long, 54mm wide, and 11.5mm thick.

Tears

Tears

Was I saving a bead? Was I having a fit? Was I trying something new? Maybe it was a little of all three....

Iron Mountain Jewelry is a one person glass studio in sunny (sweltering) Bulverde, TX, in the hillcountry just north of San Antonio. I'm a self-taught lampworker who works full-time in an Interventional Radiology Lab and only get to play with hot, moulten glass when I've been good. Or when I can run fast enough to get away from my department. I've been playing with glass now for about 20 months, but if you add up the actual time, it's more like 8 or 9. I WANT SOME MORE!!!!!!
