The Goddesses

The Goddesses

Posted by SheilaMorley on 9/14/2007
I really enjoy using my shorts to create cane to make flowers and latticino. After studying with Loren Stump, I know many ways to do this. I am using the cane to make landscapes that are dream-like. And the Goddess; My favorite relief to create.
(August 2007)
Peace.

Using commercial fillegrane to create more latticino is a lot of fun too.

Inspired by the "Venus of Willendorf"

Inspired by the "Venus of Willendorf"

A re-make of an ancient sculpture in glass. She is 2" tall.
Insired by the oldest Mother Goddess found many many years ago. She is made with ivory, resembling the limestone of the origional. She is covered with red enamel sifted over her body, symbolizing the red paint that is wore off, on the origional. She is polished with a shine, which represents (to me) the "new" art medium; Glass. After all these years we still appreciate her.
She is on Ebay starting March 9.

Latticino Landscapes

Latticino Landscapes

Very inspired by the colorful bead makers in the art glass community; Sarah Hornick, Trey Cornette...and more! One of my biggest struggles is, making things "pretty"; I get wrapped up in the meaning.
I am very happy with this series. I am happy to say it has been well received; thank you!

The bather

Inspired by old paintings of girls bathing...this is an introduction to a series I have been working on over the last few months. Impressionist style painting combined with glass relief.
Enjoy!
