This work juried into Bead Dreams 2007.

For the top: the beads include glass, Japanese and Czech seed beads, eye shell cabochons collected in Europe during WWII, freshwater pearls, sterling silver, base metals, a purchased bra size 34b, another purchased bra to line the cups, ribbon, and two scarves serving as the ties.

For the belt: the same beads as the top, plus leather backing, ribbon and d-ring closure and scarves to camouflage the buckle.

Techniques used are: bead embroidery and peyote in the round.

Inspiration: Vintage crazy quilts. Arabic disco. White Zombie. Christina Aguilera. As I worked on these pieces, I envisioned a fusion tribal belly dancer, a dancer who mixes styles into a completely unique performance.

And I suffer from acute insomnia.

I have my first trunk show coming up November 14th and 15th at the Dundee Gallery in Omaha, Nebraska. I'm really excited and have been working feverishly to get a full line of items completed.

My name is Darcy Horn, and I am a bead artist. I work in beads of all sizes, shapes, and materials, and dabble in the making of beads and pendants with PMC and polymer clay. I have a job as the buyer at International Bead Market. People think it's a dream job, but it really isn't.
