In the early mists of antiquity the Phoenicians created a rich sea-trading empire which spanned the known world. They were famous for their cedar ships, purple cloth,
glass, pottery and much more. Legend has it that Isis used to dress the queen's hair and give her scented oils and ambrosial perfumes. Perhaps she kept her secret potions in a vessel that looked similar to this. My Isis interpretation is actually not a vessel but a
bead made to look as such. It is decorated all around with detailed raised twistie and stinger work and lastly given a light acid bath to invoke the feeling of a relic. March 2007
