Hearts on a Love bead

This was the first bead I made for Valentines day. I have never made a work of art for a "holiday" or anything commercial. Never really been into that. My inspiration with this piece really comes from murrini. Now that I am a murrini maker...it just makes sense to try to make a heart! I needed a bead to put the hearts on. I put 3 of my heart murrinies on the back of this bead...If you make murrini you know that one of the hardest parts is keeping the "scum" out of it. I was very carefull to not get "scum" around my heart. After putting the three murrinies in the bead, I then put some clear over them and the carbon was trapped in there (the encasement looks dirty). This makes the bead appear Antique to me. I can not help but enjoy that on this bead. (ironic) In ceramics you get all kinds of surprizes with what the glass glaze does. The idea that the material speaks...I enjoy that part. I just love organic and the thought of things being natural!
