Keeping up with the progress... These figures have undercuts around them that I am very much proud of. I am seeing the progress in my work I have been looking for. That feels good. I am making my beads stand now. I absolutley am all for a standing bead! Most of the beads I buy can stand too. I have a JC bead, Angie bead, Mr. Smiley bead, Kristen at Genesee bead...Yup! And they all stand. So I know I am not the only one that appreciates that. A worry bead in your pocket, or right there in front of you...facing "that" direction.

Landscapes were one of my first interests with art. I used to draw and paint the landscape with paper/canvas. Now, this past year, I have been combining some painting skills with glass. I am really enjoying the turn out. With layers of glass you can create quite a bit of depth. Perhaps it is a landscape of sand blowing in the wind. See the wind? It is not a blurry picture. It is a special transparent mix with dichro that created a great effect. The figure is meditational, soulful, honoring herself. Enjoy!

I am fascinated with the human form and sculpting it. I try to sculpt forms that reference thoughts that I find to be positive. Even though, I myself have a hard time turning the thoughts off in my brain. I like to be reminded to at least try. Meditation is a good thought.

The odalisque is a traditional gesture. Repeated by Artists for hundreds of years in sculptures and paintings. Today, I have seen authors of PLAYBOY refer to the women as being in a "odalisque" pose. So that inspired the beginning of the "Odalisque" for me. From a Greek sculptor, to Matise, to Picasso, to Playboy to here? As we celebrate Valentines, I figure the odalisque was appropriate. These are at auction on Ebay.

The moon Goddess is typically depicted with hands above the head; holding the Moon. The cut out above the Gesture is there to reference the moon. The odalisque pose has been (through out history) to remind us of the beauty of the female form. Enjoy!

The Cancer in me is Inspired by the moon. Many moons... Searching for strength as I mourn the death of many parts of my life, and I think the words of the serenity prayer... The figures hands join, symbolizing honoring "thy self" (this is a part of my Yoga practice). The art I create is intuitive and spontaneous...conveying emotion...

The odalisque pose again! I was looking thruogh my old art books, back at some Picasso paintings. He was an odalisque pose creator too. Isn't it awesome how we all do things so different? I am fond of Picasso, I never really thought of doing things his way. Maybe I should try. Do you feel the freedom?

The Odalisque pose is a traditional pose found in paintings throughout history. Here I have created a relief with the glass. The use of glass as a medium for sculpture along with this pose symbolizes, for me, the liberation of women in this country (USA) or even around the world. Not only are we learning the secrets of glass...we are free from the barbaric reputation that we once had. (Hoping that the less civilized countries free the women from those traditions)

I am very excited to show my work here. If not for websites, I would have been a closet Artist forever.
Art is a passion to many people, and I am one of them. I am so flattered to be at a site with so many talented people.
