(Sculptural Glass Beads)

Water Fountain Beads Shhhhhh, listen. Do you hear it? Water flowing effortlessly over glass? Real water, though these first two aren't set up with a pump. These are the beginning versions. I made them last night, but the idea has been turning over in my mind since before Christmas. As I tested that wonderful Lauscha sample pack that Mari N. gave me, I envisioned rings/flanges stacked on top of each other with water flowing down the stack. Oh, but you know the glass gods can't allow me to actually get what I envision out of the glass! So, these were the beginning last night. This morning, Kate and I headed straight to the hardware for plastic tubing and copper tubing. Guess what I experienced first hand and now will remember-- copper gets purty darn HOT and stays purty darn HOT for a long time! So much for Mrs. Burnt Fingers using copper tubing like a mandrel. . . so I tried the brass hot fingers. They wouldn't grasp tight enough, and a couple of those beadalinas hit the deck! Made me so mad, I reheated them and stuc

She was made on the copper tubing.

This one wasn't made on the copper tubing. I made the bottom with a flange so it could fit over the copper tubing if needed. That's not exactly how it worked out, though. There's a plastic connector inserted between the tubing and the mandrel hole.

Thanks to Cami for the photo tips-- I didn't nail it, yet, but at least you can see the water in these :)

I picked him up, looked at him, and thought "This won't do anything special for the fountain but I'll try him." Guess what? My kids and I love this one the best! Buddha looks so happy sitting there as the water washes all over him!

Thanks for stopping by to visit with AngelinaBeadalina! I'm really just plain ol' Angie or Ang, but the catchy name does suit me in the sense that I'm a motormouth who loves to play with words almost as much as I love to play with glass! You can find me here at BeadArtists.org, in my Etsy shop, or in my daily blog. You can get links to those places at www.angelinabeadalina.com (click on it above). Please pardon the use of my "official" website as a traffic control signal at the moment-- at least, that's what it makes me think of when I look at it. . . lots of directions to other places where there are updates on a daily basis. Tech-stuff would not be one of those things that I love or that comes naturally to me ;) Well, enough rambling for now, come on in, look around. . . have fun exploring my glass experiments and ideas. Peace, Ang
