Susan Jones DesignsPosted by Susan Jones Designs on 1/10/2007Hello and thank you for visiting my gallery! Lampworking and jewelry design are my passion. Each day at the torch is a new opportunity to play with color, texture and designs. I feel extremely fortunate to be able to do what I love every day. I've taken classes from Stephanie Sersich and Dustin Tabor, Amy Johnson, Diego Bottacin, Jeff Barber and Tom and Sage Holland and Anastasia. All are wonderful, patient instructors - I highly recommend their classes.
Hope you enjoy the bead pictures - thanks for checking out my gallery, Susan Images

Beaches and Birds! I like to think about warm tropical beaches during these cold winter months. I think of these as mini vacations in a bead! :) |

These beads have a flat back so they lay flat against your skin and don't spin around. I learned this shaping technique from Anastasia. |

I'm changing my 'Amoeba Series' to the 'Nudibranch Series'. They are my true inspiration. Nudibranch (rhymes with spank) are beautiful sea slugs. They are very toxic and advertise that fact with bright, striking colors/patterns. I've included pictures of these amazing little cuties. |

Inspired by a recent trip to Maui - what an island paradise! This bead has blue sparkling waves inside of it and my own hand-pulled murrini adorn the side representing Hawaiian lei flowers. |

Still making birds! The basis for this design comes from Jen Gelards tut. I've made a few changes to reflect my own style. |

Layers of swirling colors reminiscent of silk scarves. |
There are four layers of glass inside this bead (beneath the detail work)giving it lots of depth and interest. It took a looooong time to make but I liked how it turned out. :) |
I used reactive shards on this bead. The silvered glass on the top half ended up with a green glow so I named it after the infamous green drink. |
I love gold leaf encased over transparent colors. These are all named after famous rivers. I'm still playing with different color combos... |

One more for the Visible Thoughts series. This is Lola in Love. |
Driving in the car the other day, another driver failed to use their blinker for a turn (my pet peeve) and I said "What ARE they thinking?". I started thinking about what it would be like if you could actually SEE peoples thoughts. That's what these beads are about. Instead of wearing your 'heart on your sleeve', they are wearing their thoughts on their heads. |

For Douglas Adams fans! When fired, the Point-of-view gun causes the target to experience the point of view of the wielder. |
Bullseye Odd Lot colors. Named after the coordinating silk ribbon from Jamn Glass. |

A garden of hand-pulled murrini and a few twisties too. |

Wild 60's colors! |

Sweet Squid has this heart in his clutches. |
Her blue bandana was a mistake, I thought I'd grabbed a black stringer. But I like how she turned out. She's got attitude! |
I named this bead 'Happy New Year' because the bright colors are very feastive and cheerful. To me, it screams CELEBRATE! |
I've always collected vintage jewelry - I love it! Antique shopping with my mom and sisters is one of my favorite things to do. I decided to combine my love for all things vintage and my passion for lampworking in these fun new creations. |

I made some off-mandrel leaves for gifts to give to my friends at our annual Autumnal Dinner Party. The colors really popped in the natural sunlight. |

Having fun with some dichro and gold leaf I picked up at the Gathering. |
I broke out my CZs to accent some new twisty cylinders. |
Finally broke out the Bullseye Freaky-Streaky pack from the gathering. I just returned from vacationing in the Florida Keys so these have sea inspired names. |
I took Diego Bottacin's class on glass rings at the Gathering. Very fun and informative class - I highly recommend it! I really like this bold design. Can't wait to experiment some more... |

Inspired by John James Audubon. |

These were a custom order for a client's daughters. |

These are my new Flowbot creatures from Minneglasspolis. They were created out of my love of all things sci-fi. I'm hoping to do a whole series of these little guys. I love the 'zippers' down the front of their space suits! I started adding a little something to the backsides giving the Flowbots...flowbutts! |
