I am a polymer clay artist. I've been working with this medium for well over 10 years, and enjoy it more every year.
My favorite part of claying is working with the colors, making canes. That's what drew me into a class at a local bead shop, and I've been dreaming in polymer clay ever since!
Most of my pieces have been sanded and buffed to a glossy shine. Some are matte, and some have a glaze, but most obtain their shine by the sanding and buffing process.
I'm gradually incorporating more mixed media, such as dichroic glass and metal. Check back often to see the progress!! And visit my blog to see what else is new at my worktable ;)

Yep, turned 50 on July 1... heck, not much different from 49 ;)
Tried leaving a few "natural" as in... no sanding or buffing. Boy is that hard!!

This bead is an ebay offering, and the profits will go to a fund for my friend Becca's parents. Her mom has cancer, and they are struggling right now to make ends meet. The heart is made using the mini mokume gane technique. It's smooth, but has the illusion of depth due to mica shift in the metallic/pearl clays used.

I watched Karen Lewis' video demonstrating how she makes her drum beads, and was inspired to make my own version. Just want to give credit where it's due ;)

These hearts are part of an ongoing charity auction blitz I do year 'round on Just Beads. My husband is the minister at a small Episcopal church in Rantoul, IL, and the proceeds from these auctions go into our deacon's discretionary fund for those in our church and in the community who are in need of emergency funds. It's not much, but I am blessed to be able to contribute.
