Heart Fire

Heart Fire My journey with glass began in January of 2006! Glass is a magic all it’s own, the immediacy of this medium requires all of my attention and senses and lends itself to passion that is fulfilled through each creation. Creating provides me with hope for the future and always brings me closer to the One who is the true creator. As I progress on this journey I allow that which was once private within me to become public, it is when the most vulnerable aspects of myself partake in this unlimited way that creativity becomes art. Each piece that I create, however flawed or however small is noteworthy because it exists, I am reminded that there is meaning in the smallest of things. While creating there is hope, evolution, an absence of time, and the anticipation of all that is good. When I create, I begin to sing the song of my life, and of the many people and experiences that I have encountered, and for this time—I am truly healed. L. Jones

A Few Bottle Stoppers

A Few Bottle Stoppers

These are some of the bottle stoppers that I made back in October of 07. My life has been very hectic since then; moving from Missouri to Michigan to the Armory Arts Village. I have sold most of my stoppers but wanted to at least get a few pics in.
The stoppers take about one hour complete and it is all done off mandrel. The next day I grind and polish the bottom with my flat-lap grinder/polish machine that I just love.

Have a great day!

Ancient One

Ancient One

I have been playing with enamels and 'Tink Dust' the past few weeks and really like the magical color and texture that these mediums create. Here are a few vessels made with these particular powders as well as some vessels that are not made with enamels/dust.

Child's Play

Child's Play

Ever have one of those days when it seems like everything goes wrong? Well, this was one of those days. I had a specific idea for a new set of beads, but as you can see everything I touched seem to fall apart. I decided to photograph them anyway to keep for posterity. They remind me of clowns or pictures that children draw---sooo---I am going to give these to my little boy, who loves them!

Thank You, Lois

Double Iris Blooming

Double Iris Blooming

I have been working on encased florals for a while now and decided to take a break from that to make some iris beads. I just love flowers! I experimented with the vine cane by encasing black with Honey Crunch and really like the effect. The top portion of the bead was encased with dark Lavender. Have a great day!

Fantasia

Fantasia

As you can see I am still stuck on florals. The colors are so cheerful that I just can't stop making them. Every day I work and attempt to improve my work by exploring new colors for canes and making the floral appear more finished. I am getting there slowly but surely. They say practice, practice, practice---and that is what I am presently doing.

Thank you for allowing me to share this journey with you!

Floral Frenzy

Floral Frenzy

Here are several focals that I completed before leaving for vacation with my sister. I keep making little changes each time I make a new floral bead, particularly this type. I am learning that sometimes less is more with these types of flowers, but I sure am having a great time making them.

I hope that you enjoy looking at my floral beads!
Thank You!

Lauschas Stardust!

Lauschas Stardust!

This is another three dimensional bead that I made out of the new Lauscha color 'Stardust'. It's really a beautiful glass, sort of a blue and sort of a lavender. It's just as smooth anc creamy as can be. I am continuing the floral trends as you can see. Thank you for looking

My Hearts Desire

My Hearts Desire

Soon after I began lampworking, about 2 years ago, I wanted to make 3 dimensional floral beads. I fell in love with the wondrous florals of Leah Fairbanks and decided that I would make mine different by adding pre-made miniature florals onto the bead when I had enough skill to do so. A few months later, I saw that there was already an artist doing that, so I am going to make mine different, I'm not sure how yet. Anyway, here is my first attempt, the little flowers need to be smaller.

This is such a wonderful journey!

Thank you for looking.

Mystery Garden

Mystery Garden

I have been so busy practicing making encased florals, in fact that is about all I have done for the past week! I have found that making encased florals is quite meditative.
Thanks for stopping by!

Over the Rainbow

Over the Rainbow

Here is a rather large set that I finally finished last Friday. I spent four days just pulling the cane using mostly Reichenbach transparent glass. The pillow were made with a complex cane that contained all six colors yet they reacted very differently, they really look much different than the button beads. I was disappointed with the result at first but they have grown on me over the past few days.

Sculptural Beads, goddesses etc.

I have been really enjoying this glass adventure, and really enjoy taking the time to created goddesses, fish and other beings.

This is where I will place my sculptural beads.

Tearful

Tearful

I finally had the opportunity to try my new Triton yesterday. What a wonderful glass, the iridescence is definately hard to capture. I am also experimenting with different shapes--not quite sure what these look like yet.

Thank you for looking!

Tending My Garden

Tending My Garden

I just love making florals, and recently I have been making quite a few of them. I love the contrasting colors and doing numerous encasements to create the 3d effect. This is a large focal bead that was encased three times. I hope that you enjoy them too!

The Blooming

The Blooming

This is a small set that I made on Friday, I made a rose cane that didn't turn out perfectly for sure but I like the sort of watercolor effect from the cane. I really like the colors, I have been sitting one a pound of Opal Yellow and finally made something with it.

Thank you for looking

Treasures of the Sea

Treasures of the Sea

I really had a great deal of fun making this set. I wanted to make a set that would depict the ocean with all of it's treasures--so if you look really closely you will find little bits of goldstone hidden somewhere on each bead. This is a very large set so it was difficult to photograph all at once, at least it was for me. I used reactive glass with Lauscha Iceblau to to get the effect that I wanted. I just love Lauscha glass.

Thank you for looking!

Triton

Triton

Here are some more Triton tests that I completed yesterday. These are actually quite small in size, so the pictures really show the detail of all the colors that were used.
Thanks again!

My Favorite Things

My Favorite Things

This is the first set that I made since my identity was stolen, I didn't feel like lampworking for quite a while after that happened. I was going to call this set Revolution until I began uploading the pictures, then I realized that what I had created are actually my favorite things; pink, purple and gold. These beads seem to take on a life of their own, in fact I'm not sure I'm actually done with the set.
Thank you so much for looking, I appreciate the support from the whole lampworking community.

New Bracelets

New Bracelets

Here are a few bracelets that I made today. Had some difficulty with sizing due to the fact that some of the beads are rather chunky. The EZ bracelet sizer is really a life saver for things like this. Anyway, I had a good time making them, I hope you enjoy looking at them.

Bent Beads

Bent Beads

I just started making bent beads today using the Rocio method. I was a little scared at first for some reason, but they came out OK. I am going to put all my bent beads here as I progress.

Thanks for looking. Hey does anyone ever read these?

Bent Bead Bracelets

Bent Bead Bracelets

OK, I figured out how to bend the beads thanks to Rocio and his tools so now I'm on a bit of a roll. Although these beads were really just test beads I decided to make them into simple bracelets. These are extremely simple bracelets that I would consider a 'low-ticket' item for an upcoming show. So I will place my bent bead bracelets and watches here soon!

Sweet Song of Spring

Sweet Song of Spring

This set came out a bit different than I initially intended but the more I look at it the more I appreciate the way the colors react to pure silver. This set contains silver foil and Rubino Oro as well as stringer and cane decoration that was then encased with more rubino. Gave an interesting effect. Thank you for looking. March 07

Vanlentine Heart

Vanlentine Heart

This was an easy set to make, I didn't start out thinking about a valentine theme but after I brought them upstairs and looked at them I thought that they fit well with this time of year. Thank you for looking.

Bluetonium Sea

Bluetonium Sea

This is my first set created with a bead press. I just love Cattwalk tools! This is a rather large set of beads using the new Lauscha Bluetonium, you can really get some nice effects by playing with it in the flame,I was able to bring out the mettalic pink oil slick, a terracotta red, as well as other variations. The rods are actually a beautiful sapphire blue color. Other reactive glass were also used.

Silver Core Beads

Silver Core Beads

I fell in love with the beauty of silver core beads while I was waiting for my torch to arrive. I just knew that I had to make them! It has taken time to learn the basics of the riveting process but the end result is incredibly rewarding. And, I have so much to learn! Thank you for looking at my beads.

Vessels

Vessels

I have been at the torch for almost a year now, I started in January of 2006. I am hopelessly addicted to hot glass and have a blast in my studio nearly every day. Here are some recent photographs and peeks into my current work. I love living on the edge so I just jumped in with both feet and haven't looked back since. I love creating hollow vessels with floral designs, and I love making silver core beads. They are hard and I still break a few but I love it. Thank you for looking at my gallery page!
