Eugena's Gallery

Eugena's Gallery Thank you for stopping by and welcome to my gallery. I hope you have a cup of coffee or a glass of wine in your hand and are not in a hurry. I would like to show you a few unusual and elegant designs. You probably would not believe it, but all of them are made out of polymer clay.

For some reason, polymer clay is perceived as a material for funny and funky things, but in fact it can be anything. I do not know any other material that is as versatile as polymer clay. I can make polymer clay look like metal, stone, porcelain, leather, or something completely different and unique. I hope you will agree with me after seeing my collection. Please feel free to leave your comments - I would love to know what you think.

A Gift for My Friend

A Gift for My Friend

I am playing with my faux cloisonné technique for polymer clay.

This huge flat focal bead was the first result of my experiments. I added fresh-water pearls to form the body of the butterfly and silver foil to obtain the delicate veins on its wings. I am thrilled with the result and so is my friend, who received this bead as one of her birthday presents.

Eugena's Faux Cloisonne Hearts

Eugena's Faux Cloisonne Hearts

I made these pendants out of polymer clay using my faux cloisonne technique.

Cloisonne is an old enameling technique that involves soldering wire onto the metal base and filling it up with glass enamels in various colors. The technique I am using, while still pretty tedious, is actually much simpler than the original one.

These pendants are available on my website along with the tutorial for this technique.

Faces, Faux Cloisonne

Faces, Faux Cloisonne

I am trying my hand in capturing facial expressions using faux cloisonne technique. Surprisingly, I found this task way more difficult than making florals - I am working on a very small scale, and shifting any piece of wire I am working with even by a millimeter changes the expression right away...

Faux Cloisonne Orchid

Faux Cloisonne Orchid

I have done many sculpted orchids, but this is only the second one in my faux cloisonne technique. I like the way it turned out, so there will definitely be more!

Faux Lampwork Beads

Faux Lampwork Beads

I am working on a new technique for polymer clay. This thechnique shall mimic the look of glass lampwork beads. Here are the results of my experiments.

Florals, Faux Cloisonne

Florals, Faux Cloisonne

What is "faux cloisonne"? Well, "cloisonne" is an old metal-working technique, when a design is formed using metal partitions (or cloisons) filled with different colors that are created with enamels. "Faux cloisonne" is a technique that I developed for polymer clay. It is still a pretty time-consuming process, since every line is created by cutting and bending a piece of wire. However, it is much easier at least because you do not have to solder metal and melt glass...

Every floral design I create is one-of-a-kind. Some of them already found their homes, and some are still available on my website.

Florals, Sculpted

Florals, Sculpted

In this gallery, you will find my 3-D floral designs. For some reason, they are limited to orchids with only a few exceptions. However, orchids have so many different shapes and colors, that they can keep me busy for a really long time.

More Orchids

More Orchids

Here are a few new sculpted pendants I made last week. Most of them are still available and will soon be listed on my site.

I enjoy sculpting orchids more than any other flowers. They have such a diversity in shapes and colors...

The pendants range from about 1" to 3" in size, and the orchids are about 1/2" to 3/4" in size. They are sculpted from the highest quality polymer clay and combined with pieces of shells.

Winged Creatures, Faux Cloisonne

Winged Creatures, Faux Cloisonne

How do you call butterflies and dragonflies together? Not "Insects" - I do not want anybody think that I am making bugs, bees, or beetles. They are pretty in their own way, but I am not interested in making them right now, that's all. I decided to call this page "Winged Creatures", and if I ever make a bird, I will post it here. Sounds like a plan to me.
