*9-6-06 Just added another Ganesha...This little journey started with a teenager's request for a peace sign and a yin yang sign. Searching for a yin yang sign to look at, I opened John Bowker's book GOD A Brief History. On the way to the Tao section, I saw beautiful Hindu and Buddhist paintings and sculptures. The color combinations were intoxicating, and the textures were so rich. The Hindu god with the elephant's head seemed particularly ornate. He's Ganesha, and he brings success, peace, and wisdom. Voila', another peace sign! Here are my versions of an abstract line drawing of Ganesha:
Hindu god of Success, Peace, & Wisdom. Coral encased in clear, with raised clear and black stringer detail.
The conch shell is associated with Ganesha. When he blows it, it makes the sound of "OM".
Once again, my version of the abstract drawing of Ganesha, this time done in Nile green with melted in black stringer.
The until now unseen 3-D attempts at Ganesha. They hang in a place of honor over my workbench, bringing success (sometimes), peace (always at the torch), and wisdom (for the next flamin' session).
Subtle colors, calming stone feel. Usually ornate Ganesha is just as powerful in this simple setting, use him as a meditation stone.
Ganesha celebrated in soft pinks, grays, and a touch of coral under etched clear. Sort of a feminine version of a Ganesha worry stone.
Hmm, remember the peace sign? It must have inspired the use of these colors.
Hindu symbol of "Om" floats on complicated but subtle rock colors.
Three dimensional Ganesha complete with one broken tusk, a lotus flower, and a tiny mouse of desire. You must control desire, or it will control you. . .and Ganesha can help you accomplish this so you may succeed.
Ganesha's trunk and tusks are three-dimens... as is his ample belly with its belly button!
Well, Ganesha is supposed to be a human with an elephant's head, but I got a little overzealous and made him an elephant tail.
Just Ganesha, plain ol' light ivory glass that didn't take on many cracklies in color, basic black stringer design. . .straight up Ganesha, peaceful and serene.
Peace to you, and a tiny conch for good luck, too.
I think I'd forgotten to take his pic, but he is one of my personal favorites. He's smaller than the rest, but he's bright and cheery enough to make up for it!
Success, Peace, and Wisdom. . .gotta have Peace!
Just a quick picture. I love to make Ganesh, but needed to try something a little different.

Thanks for stopping by to visit with AngelinaBeadalina! I'm really just plain ol' Angie or Ang, but the catchy name does suit me in the sense that I'm a motormouth who loves to play with words almost as much as I love to play with glass! You can find me here at BeadArtists.org, in my Etsy shop, or in my daily blog. You can get links to those places at www.angelinabeadalina.com (click on it above). Please pardon the use of my "official" website as a traffic control signal at the moment-- at least, that's what it makes me think of when I look at it. . . lots of directions to other places where there are updates on a daily basis. Tech-stuff would not be one of those things that I love or that comes naturally to me ;) Well, enough rambling for now, come on in, look around. . . have fun exploring my glass experiments and ideas. Peace, Ang

Ganeshas
Really nice to see your Ganesha beads :) Ganesha plays a very important role in our culture. Apart from peace, success & wisdom, he also brings knowledge and protection. Every Hindu ceremony is started with an invocation to Ganesha no matter which God the ceremony is for. And on the festival of Ganesha we place our books under his statue so that he blesses us with more knowledge.
Just thought I might share that with you.
